MultiPly Installation at London Design Festival

MultiPly, a nine-meter high, carbon-neutral wooden pavilion made entirely of American tulipwood opened to the public on September 15th in the Sackler Courtyard of the V&A in time for the London Design Festival. On display until October 1st, the the installation is made with the first UK-manufactured cross laminated timber (CLT) panels. It was created in collaboration between Waugh Thistleton Architects, the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) and ARUP, and illustrates how modular cross-laminated construction in hardwood is a viable solution to the current housing crisis. MutliPly is carbon neutral and is formed with 17 interconnecting modules made from 102 60mm and 100mm thick x 2.6m long tulipwood CLT panels.
