As part of a group of design bloggers visiting Las Vegas for Design & Construction Week earlier this month, I had the honor of being a judge in the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show‘s inaugural Innovation Booth Awards, as well as the show’s annual Best of KBIS Awards. Taking home a Silver Award in the bath category, TOTO‘s Neorest 750H toilet might be the smartest, cleanest, and — with a price tag around $10K— priciest human waste receptacle on the market.

The 750H, which also recently won the prestigious iF award for design excellence in the Bath and Wellness category, offers a multi-step cleansing system that starts before you begin using it. As the lid opens, a pre-mist wets the bowl surface to make it harder for waste to stick. The surface of the bowl has another defense, as it’s coated with TOTO’s Hydrotect titanium dioxide coating and zirconium, which gives it an iridescent sheen and enables waste and even lime scale to easily wash way. When the lid closes, a UV light built into the lid is activated, which further breaks down any organic materials that remain behind after the flush.

The 750H only requires 1 gpf for a full flush and 0.8 gpf for a light flush, and uses two powerful water jets inside the bowl to create a whirlpool effect. Since the flushing system is unaffected by a building’s water pressure, it can be installed in high-rise, multi-family buildings, and the upper floors of single-family residences, and achieve the same performance as those in low-rise buildings.

Until March 8th, you can enter a contest to win a TOTO Washlet S350e personal cleansing system (a $1700 value). To enter click here. Good luck!
