One of the exhibitors at the Architectural Digest Design Show held last March in New York City, The London Basin Company produces fine porcelain bathroom basins that are hand-finished using two main application techniques: either “under the glaze”, where the pattern is applied to the clay and then the basins are glazed and fired, or “over the glaze” where clay washbasins are glazed and fired, and then the pattern is applied and the basins are fired twice again to ensure paint durability.

Founded by interior designer Anna Callis, the company also produces handmade vanity units from mild steel and finished with a clear or metallic powder coating, which ensures durability and results in a scratch and water resistance. Surfaces come in a range of natural materials including wood and marble. Callis draws inspiration from her travels, creating her own interpretations of traditional Oriental and Middle Eastern patterns.

Available to buy online, the basins come in 10 designs in dimensions running between 39.7 cm to 45 cm in diameter and 14 cm to 16.2cm in height.
